Both of the kids are big comic book heads. More than I ever was. They know the Marvel and DC Encyclopedias Tucker gave them last Christmas almost by heart. Even though I was a big Incredible Hulk fan as a kid, and never expected anything as amazing as having the current Hulk be a Korean-American… and the kids having to have met him at Amalgam Comics last August!
Claudia’s favorite comic book is a small independent one called Jonesy — it’s a little beyond her years in some aspects, but she does identify with it strongly and it was surprising to find out we had a friend in common with one of the artists — who recently sent Claudia a signed print, AND an original Jonesy drawing!
Last night’s Hanukkah gift was a pad each of comic book-layout drawing paper, and they worked long and hard and silently.

Comics can help check off many “mandatory” learning goals, and I expect we are going to use them for just that!
