3D printer

So far, the 3D printer has had its issues. We have had to order replacement motors, since the originals seem a bit jerky. There is a sort of open learning/urgent care 3D printer night at Indy Hall to which Ben can haul his new obsession at the end of the month. Some of the things that have come out of here are truly bizarre — the real Island of Misfit Toys is the home where the alignment is off on the 3D printer.

But we’ve also had a few successes and near-successes.

A glow-in-the-dark MLK monument, for instance.

But here’s what I was most impressed with seeing on the printer recently:

Ben found lots of printing downloads for fidgets — for people on the spectrum or people who just like to fidget. This nautilus is one of those. Béla was sent upstairs to explain it to me…

Béla does a very good job of showing off this fidget, which is by far, so far, our greatest accomplishment with the printer. We aim to improve.
