Here is an image I will be sharing with Béla. It is not graphic, but timely, and horrible.
We know why historical photos like this are being shared now (this was on a friend’s Facebook today). Béla has an additional reason for seeing it; he committed to writing out and illustrating Warren Zevon’s “Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner” in comic book form. I told him I expected more than just a bunch of drawings focused on the weapons; I wanted to see details of the song. Well, damn that Warren Zevon and his historical knowledge. Béla’s had to get out the atlas. And Google things.
“They killed to earn their living, and to help out the Congolese.”
I think it’s clear why.
Hopefully B. will be working on his comic throughout the summer. I wish Warren were still around.
Since all the signs from yesterday’s event are still up, we’ve decided to put out books, curricula, puzzles the kids have outgrown — so someone can be a little less bored.
We have so much to share.
